Ned (Robert De Niro) and Jim (Sean Penn) are a couple of escaped convicts who are being mercilessly pursued by the police. They run out of options and places to hide so they camp out at a local Church and begin to literally work for God. While there they meet the beautiful Molly (Demi Moore), who they both are extremely attracted to. They fight over her with both men at times believing that they had the upper hand in her courtship. When the authorities close in on the duo, they must rely on the kindness of Molly and the church to spare them from more prison time.
