The Great Gonzo (voice of Dave Goetz), as the author himself, with the help of Rizzo the Rat (voice of Steve Whitmore), narrates for us Charles Dickens’ classic tale, “A Christmas Carol,” as performed by his Muppet pals. It’s Christmas Eve in Victorian London and all are sharing in the merriment except for Ebenezer Scrooge (Michael Caine), a miserly old man who disdains all things Christmas. His dutiful employee, Bob Cratchit (Kermit the Frog, voice of Steve Whitmore), having convinced Mr. Scrooge to give him just one day off, heads home to his family, and his sweet yet sickly son, Tiny Tim (Robin the Frog, voice of Jerry Nelson). Alone, Scrooge retires, but his sleep is interrupted by the appearance of the ghosts of his old business partners, Jacob and Robert Marley (Statler and Waldorf, voices of Jerry Nelson and Dave Goetz). They’ve come to warn him that unless he changes his ways, he will share their afterlife fate of being shackled to chains for all eternity. Three more spirits will visit that night, they tell him, and it will be up to the ghosts of Christmases Past (voice of Jessica Fox), Present (voice of Jerry Nelson), and Yet to Come to convince Mr. Scrooge to remake his present and alter his future before it’s too late.
