Professor Baxter (Harold Gould) and his daughter Kitty (Stockard Channing) have designed and created a nuclear powered bus called The Cyclops. It features a bowling alley, swimming pool, and other amentities, but Kitty hires Dan Torrance (Joseph Bologna) to be her driver, despite his dubious past, and the co-pilot is Shoulders O’Brien (John Beck), a dim-wit with narcolepsy. Oil magnates like Ironman (Jose Ferrer), who is in an iron lung, want to prevent the bus from succeeding as it may cost them dearly in oil profits. The bus sabotaged with an onboard bomb and may explode at any point from New York to Denver with its colorful passengers all at jeopardy.
