The movie follows Michael (John Stockwell) and Ellie (Danielle von Zerneck) when they break into a military junkyard to find a science project for Michael. Suddenly he crashes through a trap door into a shelter underground. In this shelter they find a strange orb which they don’t know is an engine from a crashed UFO. Michael whilst trying to clean it manages to turn the device on and decides to pass it as his science project aptly named ‘Gismo.’ The orb has strange features like it absorbs electricity from nearby devices and when plugged into a source of power it begins to take shape of objects from other dimensions and times. Michael’s science teacher (Dennis Hopper) experiments with the orb and starts to warp time and twist dimensions once it is plugged into a power grid. Soon when the past, future and present collide the school is engulfed into a swirling vortex. Now it’s upto Michael and his friends to find a way out.
