Ex-cop Vito Caprini (Oliver Reed) who has become a tough and violent Prison Warden is forced to become that which he detests the most, a corrupt law enforcement official. While Caprini is at work his wife Anna (Agostina Belli) is kidnapped and they what Caprini to release inmate Milo Ruiz (Fabio Testi), who is seen burying his dead partner in the beginning, in order to get his wife back. Caprini arranges for Ruiz to escape and attempt a hostage exchange, only to find that his wife’s kidnappers try to kill him and Ruiz. So both Caprini and Ruiz are on the run and must work together, not only, to free Anna, but, untangle the connections between a web of government corruption and the common violence plaguing the streets.
