Robert Benchley (Himself) is a modern day humorist who tries to convince Walt Disney to do the story of the Reluctant Dragon (Calude Allister): a dragon that is not ferocious like other dragons but merely wants to recite poetry. Benchley is given a tour of the studio and wanders away from the guide and visits various studios and other departments on the Disney lot. He visits art classes and sees a story book artist (Alan Ladd), a demonstration of sound effects and a camera studio where everything has switched to Technicolor, He views various screening of animated films until finally finding his way back where Walt is screening the Reluctant Dragon.
