Jack Grainger (Gary Basaraba) has gotten laid off from work, while his wife Ginny (Mary Steenburgen), has to work a lot at a grocery store and she does not get paid much. Abbie (Elisabeth Harnois) and Cal (Robbie Magwood), their kids, have to listen to the parents battle over finances. The family is also getting evicted because Jack’s company owned their house. Jack and the kids try to maintain some Christmas cheer, but Ginny is extremely moody. Gideon (Harry Dean Stanton) arrives to tell Abbie that he will help her mom to get into the spirit of Christmas again. Santa Claus is also involved.
