When interference by The Hood (Ray Barrett) accidentally causes the Mars-bound spacecraft Zero-X to crash shortly after take-off, International Rescue is called in two years later when a second launch is prepared. Jeff Tracy (Peter Dyneley) has his sons Scott (Shane Rimmer), Virgil (Jeremy Wilkin), Gordon (David Graham), and John (Ray Barrett) keep watch on the craft with the help of Lady Penelope Creighton-Ward (Sylvia Anderson), but it is astronaut Alan (Matt Zimmerman) who must save the day when the spacecraft suffers damage before re-entry.
