Amos Tucker (Tim Conway) and Theodore Ogelvie (Don Knotts) pair together to wreak havoc on a small town while attempting to quickly get rich. Instead of acquiring wealth, however, they gain custody of several mischievous children who have recently lost their mother. Set in the wild west, this pair tries to evade the children, the law, and other gangsters. With luck against them, they encounter hilarious circumstances. The children, now orphans, attempt to use the pair to create a stable home, and in the process discover gold. This discovery leads revelations regarding the true intent of those surrounding them. Love, mystery, and luck all lead to laughs!
