The story revolves around Phileas Fogg (David Niven) an English nobleman who is a very tough and callous man. Once in his club he takes a bet of traveling the whole world in just eighty days. He started his journey with his new butler Passepartout (Cantinflas). He first moves to Paris from where he has to catch a train to Marseilles however he misses the train and then with the help of a travel agent they are back on the track. While traveling to India they encounter Princess Aouda (Shirley Maclaine) who is being made Sati a tradition followed by Hindu religion, when the husband of the women dies. Fogg tries to save the princess by the help of his butler. He moves ahead to Hongkong where again they have to tackle the issue of drugs followed by America where they fight the wild issue. However through out the course of their journey Fogg follows the same routine as he used to do it earlier. At each step of their journey Fogg is greatly supported by his butler. Though Mr. Fogg losses his bet still in the course of the journey he achieved many good experiences of life.
