Biloxi Blues is a film based on the popular Neil Simon theatrical production of the same name, and is the story of newly enlisted army G. I. Eugene Jerome (Matthew Broderick). Jerome, along with the rest of his unit is sent to Biloxi, Mississippi for basic training which will prepare them for the harsh battlefield of World War II. While there, Eugene experiences a different way of life influenced by the diverse personalities that surround him. He must also contend with a tough and demanding drill sergeant (Christopher Walken) whom most of the men think is somewhat crazy. As his tour of duty draws near, Eugene comes to grip with his life and begins to worry about the dangers of combat.
