When Lucifer (Steve Blum) decides to take Beatrice (Vanessa Branch) to Hell, she is more than a victim. He intends to make her his bride. This does not sit well with Dante (Graham McTavish) who tries to follow through the Gates of Hell, but needs a guide named Virgil (Peter Jessop) if he intends to mount a rescue of his deceased girlfriend’s soul. In the meantime, he must descend down many levels, passing those who enjoyed the Seven Deadly Sins, now facing their punishment. He must experience the despair of Limbo and the violent fate of those who are heretics. Punishment and punitive actions are most creative for those who have committed lust and gluttony. Dante’s own venal past may predict his own eventuality during the attempt to locate Beatrice among the grotesque and famous inhabitants of Hell.
