Single father Michael Farr (Ciaran Hinds) is trying to cope with life, raising his two children and keeping things together, while still missing his wife who died 2 years ago. Things get complicated for him when he starts seeing a ghost of his father-in-law, who is still alive. Michael volunteers to be a driver for a local literary festival, and he is assigned to a British writer named Lena Morelle (Iben Hjejle), who has written a book about ghosts called The Eclipse. He opens up to Lena about the mysterious goings on in his life, and Lena seems interested in his stories and eager to help him figure them out. Lena, however, is somewhat distracted by American novelist Nicholas Holden (Aidan Quinn), who she had an affair with in the past. These three individuals find their lives intertwined for a few weeks thanks to the literary festival.
