Driven insane by Inspector Clouseau's (Peter Sellers) incompetence, inspector Dreyfuss (Herbert Lom) now resides in a mental asylum. Driven by an urge to wreak revenge on his former employee, Dreyfuss escapes from the hospital and tracks down Clouseau. After a failed attempt to take his life, Dreyfuss appropriates a 'death ray', and uses it as leverage, threatening to destroy whole cities unless Clouseau is killed. Now pursued by assassins from around the world, Clouseau - sporting numerous bad disguises - must track down Dreyfuss and prevent him from using the death ray, all the while evading an array of trained killers.
