Jim Craig (Tom Burlinson) drove the wild horses he caught to market. When he returns, he expects his girlfriend Jessica (Sigrid Thornton) will be waiting for him and, with his new fortune in hand, they will together start their new life. But, instead he finds that Jessica has a new boyfriend named Alistair (Nicholas Eadie). Because Alistair is rich, Jessica's father (Brian Dennehy) believes he is a better match for his daughter and doesn't want Jim around. Jim must prove himself again and win his girl. His way is proving himself as a horse man who can provide for her better than the cattle ranchers like her father and Alistair.
