Jan Benes(Jean Del Val) is a Russian scientist who has perfected the shrinking ray that both Russia and the US had been working on. He's figured out how to shrink things to make them super-small permanently, whereas beforehand scientists on both sides found that the things they shrunk eventually reverted back to their original size. Jan defects to the West, but an assassination attempt by his old bosses leaves him in a coma with a serious blood clot in his brain that could kill him. Charles Grant(Stephen Boyd) leads a team of scientists including Pete Duval(Arthur Kennedy) and his lovely assistant Cora(Raquel Welch), who enter Jan's brain in a miniaturized submarine and set out to fix the damage. But will they get in and out in time before they revert to full size?
